S.I. primary boys’ cricket
Three sides—Canterbury A and B and Nelson—are fighting for first place in the South Island primary schoolboys’ crleket tournament at Blenheim after the third day’s play yesterday. A crucial game today is the semi-final between Nelson and Canterbury A, both unbeaten. Highlights Of yesterday’s play were wins to Otago, Canterbury B and Nelson. The latter overcame a spirited North Canterbury side after being five for 48.
Scores were: Nelson 130 iD. Heywood 54, C. Ingram 33) beat North Canterbury 101 (B. Plaskett 34; M. Stringer 7/48). Canterbury B 195/7 (M. Fullen 59 retired, P. Kennedy 36) beat Southland 162/9 declared (P. Harrington 42, S- Jackson 30; A. Sands 3/13, J. Gurngey 3/39). Canterbury A 147/5 declare (P. Kennedy 31, C. de Felice 36 not out) beat Buller 69 (M. Hogue 46 not out; N. Jackson 4/6) and 82/8 (C. Hunter 381.
Marlborough 155/4 declared (D. Murdoch 51 not out) beat West Coast 34 (M. Page 6/13) and 42 (J. Marfgll 6/16). Otago 181/2 declared beat South Canterbury 144.
North Otago 199/9 (G. McKay 41, C, Smillie 50) beat Eastern Southland 166 (.1. Craig 46; M. Dadd 3/42). Central Otago 107/7 (R. Flannery 34; S. Nicholls 5/43) beat Ashburton 74 (A. Jones 7/24). Second day Canterbury B 138 (G. Robinson 4/14) beat Otago, 115/9 (J. Guernsey 8/57). Ashburton 94 iG. Chamberlain 3/21) beat North Canterbury 65 (T. Undy 4/20). Canterbury A 160/5 declared (P. Kennedy 76, J. Stewart 30) beat North Otago 71 (D. Hartshorn 5/3) and 94/5 (G. McKay 34, M. Pitches 38 not out). Nelson 145/2 declared (J. ibadulla 41, M.
