Fishing expert going to Tasmania
| PA Nelson • Mr R. T. Mac Kay, the 'managing director of Nelson Fisheries, Ltd, has been appointed chief executive of the newly-established Tasmanian Fisheries Development Authority. Mr Mac Kay ends 18 years with Nelson Fisheries at the end of this month to assume the Australian post in midFebruary.
Mr Mac Kay has been managing director of Nelson Fisheries since 1971, after joining the company as secretary accountant in 1961. He has been president of the New Zealand Seafood Processors’ Association since July, 1976, and held directorships on the N.Z. Pelagic Fisheries Development Company; N.Z. Seafoods Development Company; Western Pacific Fishing Company,) and Cold Storage (Nelson) Ltd.
He served on many fish-p mg industry and Govern-) ment committees to advise: on what, direction the in-) dustry should be taking, and) in 1977 he visited Japan at' 1 the invitation of the Japanese Government.
