Power plant resumes

The Manapouri power station should be working again this morning. It was closed earlier this week for repairs to rubber fate-seals between the tiirines and the tail-race tunnel. The repairs are expected to cost $30,000, and even if contingencies arose, that cost should not be exceeded

by much, said the Ministry of Energy’s principal generation engineer in the Electricity Division, Mr G. R. McKenzie. The division earlier expected the station would not resume generating until Saturday. The repairs were planned for summer because of low electricity demand at that time.
