Day off for boners
PA Auckland About 200 boners at the Westfield Freezing Company’s works walked off the plant early yesterday — after the collapse of a rail carrying several tonnes of beef into the boning floor. The boners had been prepared to continue working after the accident, in which the rail and beef crashed to the floor, but a misunderstanding led to the rail gang’s being sent home. At a meeting over whether the boners would be paid for the time they were | losing because of the rail [gang’s absence, the boners (decided to take the rest of i the day off work.
