New job
Lord Barnetson has announced that he will retire as chairman of Reuters at the end of June. His successor will be elected at a meeting of the Reuters Board on January 17. Lord Barnetson, aged 61, was elected chairman in 1968 for the statutory three-year term and was three times re-elected. He retires to assume the chairmanship of Thames Television. Lord Barnetson is chairman of United Newspapers and of the “Observer” newspaper. — London.
