Selective advances
Continued good support for 8.H.P., and a handful of miners kept trading at a buoyant level on Australian markets yesterday.
B.H.P. rose 16c to 974 c on a turnover of 100,000 shares. Oil stocks lost ground. Woodside and AOG both
eased 3c, while Ampol and Bridge shed 2c each. Uraniums made gains but a number of base metals dropped back.
However, copper miners rose again, in line with rising copper prices. The diamond hopefuls were little changed The only stock to lose ground, shedding 2c to 365 c, while its venture partner, Ashton Mining, added 2c to 99c.
The banks were marginally firmer, but other leaders were mixed. AC! and AGC were steadv, TNT rose Ic, and CSR lost 3c.
