Britain’s croquet made an impressive beginning in its warm- 1 up match against a New Zea- i land selection before the tri- ’ angular test series which will < also involve Australia. 1 Britain won all games played on the . first day of a match ’ against a New Zealand team in - Dunedin yesterday, reports the 1 Press Association. The highlight of the day’s play 1 was a fine finish by the English . captain. Bernard Nel. Another New Zealand selection was trailing Australia by one point at the end of the doubles yesterday in the international, croquet match at the Waimarie Lawn, Lower Hutt. With the score at two rubbers to one in Australia's fax out . Xew Zealand will be keen to redress’ the balance in the six remaining singles games in the three-day matches. Australia’s showing was not. so good, considering none of those in Hie New Zealand selection are in the team lor the test series. But the visitors arrived only on Wednesday, and they may take time to settle down to the strange lawns. Wellington results were (Australian names first).—B.
