Sharks sighted
Bathers at South Brighton were warned to get out of the sea yesterday after the sighting of three sharks beyond the breaker line, south of Marine Parade. A member of the public saw the sharks soon after 9 a.m. and telephoned the police, who sent a patrol car to the beach to warn bathers.
In spite of the shark reports at South Brighton, the beach at New Brighton was crowded. At 2 p.m. about 200 bathers were reported. A strong easterly wind had cooled the water temperature but an average of about 70 people was reported at most of the main beaches.
