B.H.P. steel output steady
NZPA Melbourne The raw steel output for the Broken Hill Proprietary Company. Ltd, in the six months to November 30 was in line with the previous corresponding period.
Production of raw steel for the six months w'as 4.1 M tonnes compared with 4.0 M tonnes in the first-half last year.
This was a decline from the levels reached in the second-half of 1977-78, but sufficient to enable B.H.P. to maintain an annual rate of 7.4 M tonnes the same as last year. November’s raw steel out-! put was 7.2 per cent up on the same month of 1977 but the directors said production! figures were significantly! below target at all centres. ’ !

Crude oil produced in the (latest six months was 36.5 M (barrels (37M barrels preI viousiy) despite an increase (from 5.8 M to 6.1 M barrels in November. The output of natural gas (during the six months rose (from 815.3 M to 905.7 M cu Ira and l.p.g. was up from (386,200 tonnes to 452,400 i tonnes.
