Training courses to be repealed
PA Auckland The Department of Labour will repeat its work training programmes next year. They were held at Auckland this year and were the first of their type. A general pre-employ-ment course covered topics such as finding work, being interviewed by prospective employers, home budgeting, and remedial lessons in speech,
reading, and mathematics There were also fiveweek courses at the Carrington Technical Institute on typing, painting, and labouring. For persons who were not sure what trade to follow, a special course helped them decide by introducing them to the basics of carpentry, welding, plumbing, painting and decorating, gas fitting and boat building
