Paparua County cultural centre

Paparua County has accepted a tender from the Williamson Construction Company for the first stage of construction of the county cultural and recreational centre. The firm’s tender, at $265,983, was the lowest of 11 received, according to the County Clerk (Mr B. L. Mooar). The first stage will involve the county library and community-care centre.

The Hornby facility will occupy the site of the present library in Goulding Avenue between Shands Road and the Main South Road and the com-munity-yare centre now temporarily located at 5 Aymes Road. The community-cart centre will also provide facilities for the Citizens’ Mvice Bureau. Construction is expected to start in January and the first stage is expected to be completed by the end of 1979. The architects for the complex are Griffiths, Moffat, and Partners, Christchurch. .
