A leading American crosscountry skier, Alison OwensSpencer, has beaten top European challengers to win the first Nordic World Cup women's event ever held in the United States. She won the skm race in Wisconsin bv almost Msec from Marie Johansson (Sweden). Norway's Berit Kvello was a close third.—NZPA-Reuter
