Pilkington recovers

NZPA Sydney Pilkington-A.C.L, Ltd, the Sydney-based glass manufacturer, achieved a significant recovery in both sales and earnings during the six months to September 30. Group net profit rose 27.6 (per cent to sAust776,ooo — ) almost as -much as the previous full year’s results.

Net earnings for the full 1977-78 year to March 31 slumped from S2.BM to §833,000 as ' sales rose fractionally by $lO,OOO to 566.9 M.

The company, which is jointly owned by A.C.I. and the Pilkington Bros Group of the United Kingdom, raised sales in the latest half by 21 per cent to $41.2M.
