Reeling in the years

The Wellington group, Reel to Real, will play at the Cave Rock Hotel next week from Boxing Day to December 30. The band — Geoff Keith (bass), Ashley Lienert (lead guitar), Dave Bates — (rhythm guitar, saxophone, and mouth harp) and Graham Potter (drums) — originally started at Wellington in February, this year. They play some original material, as well as their own versions of early jazz and blues numbers, and songs by acts such as Graham Parker and the Rumour and Elvis Castello. The band has established a good reputation in Wellington, where it has played at a lot of student functions, the Royal Tiger Tavern, and Quinn’s Post.

Looking further afield, the band is now touring New Zealand.
