Help for women

Sir, — Contrary to the impression given on “Eye Witness,” (November 30) the Christchurch Women’s Refuge Centre is alive and well and Dr John Church should take note. If it is not, I wonder who helped those 400 women and about 1000 children who passed through during the last three years? It would be criminal to leave the impression of “nowhere to go,” with any woman who had viewed the programme and identified with it. Also, justice was not do,ne to the Salvation Army and various other church social agencies who keep an open door for women and children victims of domestic violence. Numbers to telephone are 66-743 or 515-772 . 855-081, 328-286, 855-813, 41-669. — Yours, etc.,

OLGA WHITTAKER. December 1, 1978.
