Laundry work in dispute

A dispute over voluntary laundry work done by patients at Sunnyside and Templeton hospitals will be discussed by the North Canterbury Hospital Board and representatives of the Canterbury Trades Council. The Canterbury Laundry Workers’ Union protested to the board about the use of patients instead of union members to do laundry work, but the board replied that the work was of therapeutic value. The board then offered to meet the union, but the union found that other unions were

also affected, and so the matter was put in the hands of the Trades Council.
