Continental interested in Chch

NZPA Sydney Continental Airlines is interested in studying the possibility of extending its new service from Auckland to Christchurch, according to a company spokesman. However, operational as well as commercial factors would have to be taken into account, said Mr John Stackhouse. The Government has approved a Pacific service by the American airline and the Minister of Transport (Mr McLachlan) said it would see if one of the thrice-weekly services could end in Christchurch. Continental will at first serve Auckland from Los Angeles and Honolulu, with flights going through Pago Pago.
