Women’s cricket trial teams
Two teams were named yesterday by the Canterbury women’s cricket selectors for a trial match at Porritt Park on December 4. With the representative first and second Xis to be named on Monday the selectors have a difficult task, as many players are of an even standard.
Included are six present New Zealand representatives and three (Pat Carrick, Karen Hadlee and Ann McKenna) from the past. As well there are eight others who have played for the first XI, but some younger players in the squad will be issuing challenges. The teams for the match at 10 a.m. are:—
S. Rattray (captain), A. McKenna (Vice-captain), M, Alabaster, S. Brown, S. Chamberlain, S. Gardyne, K. Hadlee, D. Hockley, M. Luxmore, N. Pegley, S. Storey, N. Williams.
L. Shankland (captain), P. Carrick (vice-captain), D, Costello, S. Harris, I. Jagersma, J. Jamieson, V.
McGregor, S. Moore, P. Paterson, N. Sherriff, N. Turner, P. Wright.
Cricket.—An England under 19 team will play two test matches against an Australian under 19 team during its first ever tour of Australia next January and February.
