League to Kangaroos

NZPA Leeds Australia turned in one of its most disciplined performances in years to win the rugby league series against Great Britain with a 23-6 win in the third test at Headingley yesterday. Sticking to the letter of the pre-match game plan devised by their coach, Mr Frank Stanton, the Kangaroos steadily mounted up the points and had the test and the series secure with a half-time lead of 19-nil.

“My boys were very disciplined under a lot of pressure and ultimately it paid dividends. I think we finished over the top of them in the second half,” said Mr Stanton.

Mr Stanton also praised his young pack of forwards in the torrid clashes against the British and the way they kept their cool when faced by provocative tactics in the latter stages.
