Help after fire
PA Masterton Delegates attending a national rose convention in Wellington came to the assistance of a family whose home was gutted by fire in .Masterton yesterday. The rose fanciers were visiting Masterton at the time and their bus became
caught in the traffic snarl directly outside the blazing house. A Canadian woman, aged 83, who declined to be named, passed the hat around the bus, collecting $153. A young woman was taken to hospital suffering from smoke inhalation. Her name and condition were not available.
