Political broadcasts
Sir, — Since when has South Pacific Television allowed advertising on a Sunday? 1 was annoyed to find my Sunday night TV marred by Tweedledum and Tweedledee on two separate broadcasts, playing with figures and telling us what was wrong with the other partv. Whether this political advertising was paid for or given by N.Z.B.C. it should not infringe on a Sunday w hen the rules state no advertising. — Yours, etc., M. O'NEILL. November 6, 1978. |All party political telecasts were transmitted free of charge and therefore did not come into the category of commercials, said a spokesman for South Pacific Television in Auckland. He said that both major parties received 50 minutes to be. used for party political broadcasts, and these were clearly identified as such.]
