Chinese interest in N.Z. sheep
The four Chinese, who were photographed at the Canterbury show this week, hat e been selecting sheep in New Zealand for three consignments that will soon be flown to the People's Republic of China.
In all between 2000 and 3000 sheep are involved. They are seen here with representatives of Dalgety New Zealand Ltd, through whom they are obtaining 800 sheep, including pedigree Border Leicester rams
and ewes and Romney rams and also commercial Romney ewes. They are being selected from a wide area Of the country including the Waikato, Manawatu, Hawke's Bay, Canterbury, Otago and Southland.
They are due to he flown to China about December 11. Here they are seen with a Border ’ Leicester ram hogget from K. D. Stevenson (Flaxton) which won a first prize at the. show. It is a type of sheep that they have been interested in purchasing. From left are Messrs Fu Ping-yuan, Shao Shu-chang, leader of the party, Chiu Chen-yuan, who is inspecting the sheep, Teng Pintsai.
