‘Case against Mr Muldoon’

The Prime Minister (Mr Muldoon) has defects of judgment, temperament, and character which make him unfit to lead New Zealand, according to a retired Christchurch Magistrate. Mr Harold Evans makes his claim in a booklet entitled “Case Against Robert Muldoon and his National Party Government.” He has had 2000 copies of his booklet printed and intends to send a copy to every Parliamentary candidate in New Zealand.

In a covering letter, Mr Evans says the booklet will also be sent to many other persons: it will be made as widely available as- possible. In his introduction, Mr Evans says the booklet runs the risk of concentrating too much on the issues raised by the appointment of Sir Keith Holyoake as GovernorGeneral in 1977. Eleven pager are devoted to the appointment. The book covers the announcement of Sir Keith's

appointment, public criticism — including that of Mr Evans — carried in newspapers in March last year and the rebuke given to Mr Evans by the Ministe. of Justice (Mr Thomson). Mr Evans says the appointment was forced on New Zealand by an “obdurate and insensitive” Prime Minister The rest of the booklet deals with statements made by Mr Muldoon about Mr Evans, President C -ter, the member of

Parliament for Hamilton West (Mr M. J. Minogue), the editor of the “Christchurch Star” (Mr Michael Forbes), and the leader of the Halt All Racist Tours Organisation (Mr Trevor Richards). In conclusion, Mr Evans says he will give his support to the Labour Party and Mr Rowling on November 25. The booklet is priced at 50c. According to its front cover, all profits from its ale will go to the Southland flood-relief fund.
