The Wool Board bid on! more, than 28 per cent of the I though only 9011 • bales, or 3.5 per cent bi the goffering, was bought by it. | The main competition! .(came from Western Europe.l J Local mills were active, and ' .(also Bradford. There was) J also support from Japan and! i Eastern Europe. , Merino fleece was firm on I (the Christchurch sale, while! extra-fine to medium naif-! bred fleece was also firm.! ! Strong half-bred fleece was) in buyers’ favour, while' ' half-bred skirtings were up (to 2| per cent cheaper. Fine and medium c'oss- i bred fleece was firm on the: ■ last Wanganui sale while coarse cross-bred fleece wys barely steady. Cross-bred I skirtings, second-shear, oodments and crutchings were :unchanged from Wanganui.
