Insurance strike ballot
Christchurch insurance workers will vote in a secret ballot on November 15 on whether to give authority to the national executive of their union to call a 24-hour strike. However, the union’s representatives will meet employers’ assessors in concilation talks on Fri-
day and this may influI ence the ballot. Insurance workers elsewhere in New Zealand will also meet next week to hold secret ballots on strike action. The ballots were called for after the concilation talks were adjourned without settlement recently.
