Brighton stakes up by $22,250
Increases in stakes totalling $22,250 for a 12month period have been approved by the committee of the New Brighton Trotting Club. These will apply from the meeting due to be run on December 2 when stakes will increase by some $4750 over last year. “The committee decided to use all of the promotional grant from the Racing Authority and practically all of the increase in the club’s share of the T.A.B. payout,” said the president, Mr Bruce Woods, when announcing the increases.
“The increases go right across the board and every owner of a horse placed at our seven meetings in the next 12 months should benefit,” he said.
The increases will amount to $2OO a race for slower classes to $4OO for
faster classes, while even bigger increases have been applied to feature events.
The Pan Am Mile on December 2 has had its basic stake increased by $2500, while the New Brighton Cup, to be run on Anzac Day will be worth $BOOO, an increase of $lOOO. The same increase has been applied to the New Zealand Oaks, also run on Anzac Day. This race will be worth $13,000. The Ballins industries Celebrity Stakes will now be worth $5500, an increase of $5OO, while $7OO has been added to the Max Harvey Stakes, a C 7 race now worth $5500. The Nevele R Stud Stakes will now be worth $2BOO, an increase of $3OO. Another $5OO has been added to the race for three-year-old pacers run in December, making it worth $4OOO.
