Withdrawal vote
' Northern Ireland’s chiefly : Roman Catholic Social I Democratic Labour Party i has voted overwhelmingly in favour of a phased British I withdrawal from the i troubled province. Only two i of the some 700 delegates at the party’s annual conference in Newcastle. 48km south of Belfast, voted for continued British control. But unlike the Provisional I Irish Republican Army, I which is fighting a guerrilla l war for an immediate BritI ish pull-out, the S.D.L.P. i made it clear it wanted a ' phased withdrawal that ■ would not lead to violence. — Belfast.
