Form I-VII school at Leeston
Sir, — We are told it would be reasonable to assume that all the Selwyn candidates support the concept of the Form 1-7 school at Leeston, but after many years of talk and deliberation, concepts are no longer enough. The people of Ellesmere want positive action. Approval for the school has already been given once b\ the Cabinet works committee. Why should another decision now be necessary? I feel that it is vitally important that a definite commi tmen: on this subject should be given before the elections bv the Government. or failing that, perhaps we coula have a definite statement from the Labour. Social Credit or Values candidates. To say, as the Na.ional (Mt Colin McLachlan) and Labour (Mr Bill Woods) candidates did on television recently that there are no local issues is sheer nonsense and shows that their knowledge of the electorate they aspire to, is by no means complete. — Yours, etc., JOAN GABARA. November 2. 1978.
