Visa cards
Sir. — The public should be warned against accepting a Visa card before knowing the implications, (a) After the “free" period they will be charged a fee. (b) Shoos and businesses will be charged (c) Shops will also be saddled with the extra operation of entering the sale for the bank and issuing a receipt whether or not thev have the : r own receipt system. All this adds un to an ultimate increase in prices, (d) Only the bank stands to gain, unless writing a cheque is a nuisance. They are not spending thousands on posting out 50.000 cards to people who have not asked for them if it- will not profit them (e). The implication in the brochure which accompan'ed the card that the non-return of the card in three days constituted accentance is not enforceable. (f> Cheque book records are tidier r han a handful of loose receipts, (g) It is not too late to return the card. — Yours, etc.. C. C. SMITH. November 2, 1978.
