Eyes on Owen
The Air New Zealand Shell Open begins at Titirangi on November 29 and ends on December 3. One of the leading figures will be Simon Owen, who will be fresh from his magnificent performance in the Piccadilly World match play championship. Owen, in fact, will be the centre of attention for a number of visiting sports writers, including two from Japan. The New Zeaiander has built up a large following in Japan, especially since his second equal placing behind Nicklaus in this year’s British Open at St Andrews, and the Japanese are keen to sec Owen’s “swing of greatness.”
