Preparing for buyers
What should you do to present your home to buyers in its best light?
There is no general rule. It s surprising what things will put a prospective buyer off and what is most likely to attract. Therefore be careful in what you do. Your agent will know if you should do something or whether it will be best to do nothing at all. An instance mav be a small old house which might be right for a certain type of buyer. K it needs repair it might be just right and
good value for a handyman who could put things right at comparatively small cost to himself,
whereas repairs done to the order of the owner may not only be costly but may also not suit likely buyers.
On the other hand the agent may advise you to do something not costing very much.
Exterior painting and interior decoration may be sufficient, but seek advice about the colours. Your choice may not suit others. It is amazing what will put buyers off. Your agent may suggest to brighten things up so that everything will look neat and tidy. Above all, fix the garden. In the long run, neatness is an asset in anybodv’s language; whereas work, that is not appreciated may be a waste of money.
