Deflated
A stunned silence fell over the Prime Minister’s meeting at Mount Albert last night when a balloon burst near the speaker’s platform, reports the Press Association. Mr Muldoon turned rapidly in the direction of the noise, smiled, and said the bang was not intentional: “We didn’t mean to startle the press.” The balloon, which carried the National Party symbol, burst over the heads of nine journalists who were covering the meeting.
