Industrials remain weak

Modest gains by gold stocks provided one of the few points of interest in trading which saw further falls by the leading Australian industrials yesterday. Record gold prices lifted Central Norseman to 1500 c, while Bougainville rose 5c to 155 c. BHP dropped another 10c to 780 c, CSR fell 3c to 321 c, and the National Bank slipped 8c to 254 c ahead of smaller losses by the other banks. The breweries were also weaker along with most of the retailers. Most of the uraniums lost ground as the market awaits the outcome of this week’s meeting of the Northern Land Council to decide the future of the Ranger agreement.

I Peko proved the excep- ) tion to the trend, rising 4c i to 570 c. Hamersley, CRA and BH ■ South were unchanged. Consolidated Gold dropped I 5c to 345 c, Western Mining eased 2c to 160 c, and North Broken Hill lost 2c to 133 c.
