Wool price higher
Greasy wool sold at the Timaru sale on October 12 averaged 217.69 c per kg, which was 3.65 c per kg or nearly 2 per cent higher than at the corresponding sale a year ago. According to figures supplied by the South Cantbury Woolbrokers’ and Stock and Station Agents’ Association, 2,845,846 kg of wool in 20,285 bales sold for a total of $6,259,389.32. The average price per bale was $299.19.
Some 11,725 kg of scoured wool in 94 bales averaged 266.14 c per kg and $331.96 per bale.
