In a reversal of its recent, {depressed performance, Aus-!' I tralian markets firmed,{ > yesterday, assisted by good { gains among the blue-chip, industrials. The banks were generally: stronger, with the ANZ leading the way with a gain of 115 c to 380 c. The Bank of NSW closed ■ 12c up at 768 c ahead of the release later this week of the company’s annual re- ■ suits, and possibly details of its contingency reserves. , The CBA rose 5c to 255 c and the National firmed 1c Ito 267 c. • Elsewhere.
