PA Hamilton T.A.B. code: YA. (Weather fine; track soft.) The first race at the Waikato Baring Club’s meeting yesterday was abandoned 10 minutes after the finish. A mad scramble for tickets took place immediately after the announcement as punters searched for discarded tickets The starting stalls did not open correctly at the start of the Hazlett Memorial Hurdles and a horse was locked in his stall and did not start. The sirens sounded immediately after the horses passed the finishing post, warning pun ters to hold their tickets and indicating that an inquiry would be held. A call was made for the owners to go to the judicial room and shortly afterward the public were advised that the race had been abandoned, be cause of the false start and all investments would be refunded.
