Ashburton man wins shooting
?A Wanganui J. Fleming (Ashburton) Iropped only three inner Hills to score 600.57 and jvin the masters’ and open lhampionships at the natpnal smallbore indoor rifleihooting contest at the ?koia range, near Wanganui, iver the week-end. Fleming was followed (losely by B. McFarlane Hutt Valley) on 600.56 and I. Harris (Wellington) on 100.53 in the two sections. With the highest score of he meeting, Fleming won he Lapua Cup for the open hampionship. The championship was he first of its kind ever to le held in New Zealand. This was the first time iflemen from throughout the ,'ountry had shot shoulder-o-shoulder for a title.
