Sir, — Robyn Loversidge (October 19) has hit the nail on the head, as the saying goes, when saying that Mr McGuigan put in a lot of time standing on street corners talking to people. Miss Colleen Dewe has not got time to do that, as she is too busy helping people in the electorate with their problems and getting things done. I would like to thank her for all the work that she has done for the electorate. — Yours, etc., W. B. NEWSOM. October 20, 1978. Sir, — I am a widow and am on the Lyttelton electoral roll. Last night a male telephone caller asked, “How many voters live in my home?” When asked why he wanted to know he stated that he was carrying out a survey. On being told that I live alone, he asked me whether or not I supported Colleen Dewe. Too late. I realised that my privacy was being invaded for political purposes. I write to warn others in my circumstances of what they might expect. — Yours, etc., B. GREIG, October 19, 1978.
