MAULED FROM BEHIND
When his brand new car was delivered to him, one morning, he was as pleased as a boy with his first tenspeed racing bike. Of course, his wife and three children had to admire it, from outside and inside, from top to bottom. In the afternoon, he decided to take the whole family to the Lions Park. “To give you all a treat,” he announced and, he thought, to give himself the chance to show everybody his latest acquisition. “Hurry up!” he urged, “we must be there at feeding time.” They enjoyed their drive to the park, the car purring along, beautifully. At their destination he found a good parking place, a few minutes before the hungry animals rushed into the enclosure. “Now, children,” he said, “I must warn you all. You have to keep the doors and windows shut, no matter how hot you get. Hungry lions are not discriminating. Their one aim is to eat and satisfy their appetite.”
i A big lion, his lionesses and ; numerous cubs, greedily tearing hunks of meat, thrown to them by their ! keeper, were watched by many fascinated spectators. "Now we all are i caged in our cars, and these wild an.mals are free to enjoy their meal.” >i he commented. “What an excellent idea!” Then, suddenly, their car • lurched forward. : “My new car — lions have ruined ' it,” flashed through his mind. But no, in his rear window, he saw a big car, ’ sneaking away. That driver had done it. "His registration number. J must ; get it. His insurance must pay for the ’ damage.” / Furious, his first impulse was to ; open the door and get out. But he , remembered, in time. Either he got the i satisfaction of getting the registration 1 number, but ending up in a hungry : lion’s mouth, or staying where he was t and paying for all the damage . ; someone else had caused. Hot under ‘the collar, he remained seated.
