Riotone panelling
Step-by-step details for fixing Riotone Wall Panelling can be found in such Pinex Workshop “Show Me How” brochures as The Bathroom, The Basement, The Laundry and The Shower. These are the basic hints:
Fixing: Sheets may be joined and corners formed with Pinex/P.V.C. mouldings. Fasten body of each sheet to intermediate studs and nogs at about 400-600 mm centres with stick pads or other wallboard adhesive. Permit each sheet 2mm expansion in each direction to allow for humid conditions. Do not nail, as this will damage sheet. Framing: Studs, should be at 400-600 mm centres and nogs at no more than 600 mm centres. Joints must have solid backing. Timber framing should have no more than 20 per cent moisture content, and should be drilled or not-
ched for ventilation, to prevent deterioration in wallboard’s appearance. Do not fasten Riotone Wall Panelling direct to masonry.
A well ventilated gap of at least 20mm should be formed, by some means, such as battening. Run main battens vertically on 400 mm centres, with nogs cut 50mm shorter than the space between the verticals to permit air circulation. Air must be free to circulate into the bottom and out of the top of such a cavity.
Cutting: Riotone Wall panelling can be sawn, drilled or planed on edges with ordinary woodworking tools. Ail trimming should be done from the face of the board with a fine-toothed saw.
Joining: A complete range of Pinex-P.V.C. mouldings is available designed specifically for Riotone Wall Panelling.
