Life without TV

Sir, — About 20 years ago Dr Billy Graham was reported to have said that “tele* vision, is the devil’s silver screen.” Today's colour TV is a big improvement technically but there is no improvement in what is screened. On the contrary, some of the programmes are twice as bad as the earlier showings. More profitable to the family would be a projector and movie camera to shoot one’s own films and to hire good films of one’s own choice to be shown on a clean white screen. Certainly, there would be many hours saved for productive recreation for both parents and children, as pointed out by your reader, P. M. Horton (September 23) — Yours, etc., ARTHUR DELHANTY?
