Petite Evander to race in Sweden

Special correspondent Auckland New Zealand’s biggest stake-winning trotter, Petite Evander, will be flown from New York to compete ; n feature races in Sweden this week. One is worth $BO,OOO and the other, $60,000 — with all expenses paid for the connections. Petite Evander is owned by Mr F. R. Weaver, of Auckland, and his son, Frank, and trained and driven by an American, E. Dunnigan. Al! three men will go with her to Sweden. Mr Weaver sen. flew from Auckland last week-end to link up with the others in New York. Petite Evander has tak»n her earnings to nearly $350,000 since she went to

the United States about 18 months ago. This includes about $55,000 she won in New Zealand. She also earned several thousand dollars on a trip tn Scandinavia in July. Her two races then produced a win in Sweden and a second in Denmark.

The way she is racing, she should soon top the $400,000 mark. At her latest appearance, she finished second at Yonkers Raceway, New York, to the outstanding American trotter. Cold Comfort. This followed a win a week earlier at the same track and a second to Cold Comfort in the $230,000 International Trot at Roosevelt in New York Petite Evander was one of two horses racing in North America invited to run in Sweden according to another of Mr Weaver's sons, Ray.
