Club is anxious to fit in
The Mount Pleasant Squash Club has come in for a less than pleasant barrage since it opened on the causeway some time ago. Tarred with labels like “ugly” and “elitists,” and feathered with charges that the club building detracts from the neighbourhood, the club nevertheless is a thriving success. But conscious of the need to achieve a somewhat better status in the community, it is to hold a “squashathon” this week-end, the proceeds of which will be used to paint the building, lay a carpark and establish an attractive garden surround for the complex.
Sponsored players will be on the two courts from 5 p.m. on Friday to 5 p.m. on Sunday, and the president of the Mount Pleasant Club, Mr John Sinclair, said the improvements will be started shortly.
