Brighter kitchen

You can cheer up windows with new curtains or roller blinds to make the whole kitchen look brighter. You should be able to buy remnants of suitable fabric and make your own blinds which are more economical than curtains. Most laminated fabrics make excellent blinds because they can be wiped clean. Curtains are also useful if you want to cover up unattractive shelves under a work surface but they should not be used near a stove.

A variety of pot plants attractively displayed on the window sill also gives new life and vigour. A herb garden as well as oeing useful makes a charming focal point. Even a string of onions or a bowl of oranges will brighten up dull kitchens.
