Raw sewage in harbour
PA Wellington About 30,000 tonnes of raw sewage have poured into Wellington Harbour in the last eight days through a break in the Hutt Valley Drainage Board’s pipeline to Pencarrow. The pipe was holed about 200 metres from its usual outfall outside the harbour and: sewage is running into the; harbour south of Eastbourne. The board’s -h ; f engineer (Mr H. Cot.on), said yesterday that he hoped the 1.3 m diameter pipe would be repaired by tomorrow. The cause of the break is not known.
