GOLF Christchurch Boys’ High School won the A grade championship at the Canterbury Inter-school golf championships at Coringa. However It was not until the eighteenth green that it was certain of victory. In the deciding match against Burnside High School four of the six games were in doubt until the final green. The Boys’ High captain, David Clarke, clinched the contest with a 2m birdie putt. Boys’ High scored three points, winning 13 individual games, while Ashburton High School was runner-up with two points and 10 games. The B grade was won by Burnside High School B, scoring three points with 16J Individual wins. Boys’ High B beat Christ’s College in a sudden death play-off for second place. Both scored three points with 15 wins. NETBALL Section play In the South Island secondary schools netball tournament In Dunedin hue ended. The two favourites to take the Otago Shield this year. Sacred Heart and Villa Marla, both of Christchurch, cruised through their respective sections.
