P.O. denies rescue delay

The Post Ofiice spokesman said that Wellington Radio had heard Suva Radio trying to pass a message to Noumea about a distress call from the yacht, at 2.30 a.m. on Saturday. The distress message was passed on to Noumea by Wellington Radio soon after 2.30 a.m„ the spokesman said. “There was no Post Office delay whatsoever,” he said.
