The first attempts to subdivide the land on which the houses of Hei Hei later sprang up were made in the 19205. The notice above advertises the attempted sale on two occasions of blocks of approximately three acres in the area. But little interest was shown in the blocks. Those who took them up found the land poor and were unable to make a living, or even a part-living, at the suggested occupations of bee-keeper or poultry keeper. In the end. Hei Hei did not go ahead until the 19505.
