Front man for council
A former South Pacific Television front man and interviewer. Rodney Bryant, will be the Christchurch City Council’s first information officer. His appointment was confirmed yesterday, lie will start work in three months and will be in charge of council publications, public relations, and other community activities. About a year ago, Mr Bryant left regular teevislon work to become public relations manager for Trans Holdings, Ltd. The former “Telethon” front man worked for four years on “The South Tonight,” a highly rated news programme in Christchurch before television was divided into two channels. He later ’id variety nrogrammes and a series called “Ho'iday”.
