N.Z. cyclists slip back

NZPA staff correspondent Sydney New Zealand’s road cycling team fared poorly on the second dav of the 860 km Tour of Tasmania yesterday. Two of the New Zealanders, Wayne Perkinson and Tony Horne, have been affected by gastric problems, and at the halfwav stage the top New Zealander is M. McKinnell, lying in fourth place over-all. The field is headed by A. Goodrope, who won yesterday’s stage to Exeter. He holds a 19sec advantage over M. Wilson. McKinnell is lying 79sec behind the leader, and other New Zealanders in the top bunch include Jim Wright, sixth, and Robert Oliver, seventh.

Rugby-—A Wasps Rugby Club Colts side was too strong for the New Zealand Marist Colts, winning. 21-8, at Rotorua. Cycling.—French sprint cyclist, Jean Jacques Fussien. 26, has died from head injuries sustained in a road accident. He crashed against the back of a trailer caravan while training at Fontainebleeu, south of Paris.
